The Bible is True #29: Science Versus the Bible, Part 1 - Introduction
In Disney’s 1959 film adaptation of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth, as Alec McEwen begins to pray to the God of Heaven and Earth, Natural Sciences Professor Lindenbrook interrupts to tell his star pupil not to put any limits on God. McEwen, corrected, prays to the God of the Universe. How times have changed, both in popular culture and academia. This exchange doesn’t occur in the novel; in the original book, the young man prays several times to God (who is obviously the God of the Bible) and when he prays to God in front of Lidenbrock (as he is originally named), Verne gives the professor nothing to say as either correction or contradiction. It is easy to expect that in the 2008 remake of Journey to the Center of the Earth, Biblical prayer will not be offered without rousing immediate and overwhelming opposition. What happened?
On the cover of the April 8, 1966 issue, Time magazine posed the question, “Is God Dead?” Leading theologians of the day who believed so presented their case. The popular response then was immediate and widespread outrage, though progressives latched on for support. Historically, the rise to dominance of Marxist thinking in academic circles brought with it poisonous hostility to religion, especially Judaism and Christianity. The successful prosecution in the courts by the ACLU of Christianity, the Bible, prayer and even God led to the complete secularization of our schools; two generations of Americans have been educated in an environment hostile to God and the Bible. Freed from Christian influence in public school for their entire thirteen years, children lost a major cultural support for their faith. Public schools and colleges used to reinforce faith, and now they oppose faith. By the 1980’s, the first generation of children educated in principally Godless schools began entering music, television and film production, and they have been driving Biblical values out of popular entertainment ever since. Secular humanism now has exclusive authority in public schools, popular entertainment, and academia, although New Age religion is tolerated since it undercuts Christianity. Christian professors in colleges and universities have been cowed into silence about their beliefs, while Atheists, Marxists, Naturalists and the rest are free to base their teaching of every subject on these viewpoints.
How does the public school student depending on a good grade answer a question from a history teacher who is attacking the Bible? How does the child in a public high school English class reply when told the Bible is just literature? How does a college student in a required course in Anthropology answer this question without failing? “Describe the stages of human evolution during the last ten million years, incorporating primary and secondary environmental causes.”
How does a Bible-believing Christian reply when told science proves the Bible is wrong? Does science prove there is no God, or can science prove God is there?
Next in the series is Science Versus the Bible, Part 2 - The Creation of the Universe.

Excellent post. My youngest brother who is 17 does have a challenge going to school. They have special days at school to stand up for everything except Christianity.
I think one year he beat the system, in that he was creative enough to come up with doing the books of the Bible as book reports. Can’t argue that they’re not books now can they?
God Bless your work.
