Dr. E. Allen Griffith: Vote!

States and the Nation. It is well documented that many Christians do not consistently vote. The Bible says, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s. Many believe those words of the Lord Jesus limit the relationship of the believer and government to simply paying taxes. They believe elections should simply be left up to God, and will declare the winner to be God’s choice. Is there any other area of life where we take such an attitude? Generally we work hard, do our best, try to achieve, and when we have done all we can do, we rest in the Lord. Today, while many reject our obligations to Caesar, and refuse to fulfill our civil obligations, government is claiming more and more for itself. Indeed the greatest treasures we have on earth are being claimed for ownership by government. Do our children belong to government? They bear the very image of God – they are His. The government educates them or should we say, brainwashes them, and we do little about it. I marvel that we give such credence to the views of the “millennials”, and their radicalism. We act as if it all just happened by itself. No, we have put them in educational institutions which undermine our Nation’s founding principles, and attack Christianity and Christian values. We deal with compulsory education laws which may soon extend to pre-school children. If the Socialist/Communist element in our society has its way, children could be forced into “educational” settings at an even earlier age. The government has the power to take our children out of our home and out of our care, if some social engineer does not believe we are parenting them properly. As a nation, we are on a slippery slope – and we have brought it on ourselves. Unfortunately on rare occasions parents have proven themselves unfit to have children, having abused or starved them. However, I have known of instances where children have been removed from their parents care because of sound biblical discipline. Generally they have been returned to their homes once the case has gone to a judge, but the damage to the child is immeasurable. How do we make a difference? How do we stem the tide? We use the right to vote. Some stay home claiming they do not want to vote for the lesser of two evils. Since our only choice is human, we always vote for the lesser of two evils.
