Blog for Victory Baptist Church of the Poconos

Dear Christian Friends,
Please forgive the awful delay in letting you know how Debbie is doing. She was released from the hospital at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2008. She had a rough night that night at home and by 1:30 a.m. her temperature had gone up to 99.9 degrees. We stayed up most of the night doing what we could to help it go down.
We made an appointment on Monday morning to see the doctor later that day at his office. The appointment had to be changed because the doctor was called to emergency surgery so we saw another doctor in his office. She looked Debbie over and told us what to look for, changed one of her bandages, and gave her another prescription. She told us that Debbie needed to get plenty of rest.
Thank you for your many prayers and genuine concern.
Let me tell you what I think happened. Debbie had to have her gallbladder removed and a gallstone taken out of her bile duct. During surgery the doctor cut one of her arteries, and she lost at least 4 pints of blood. He needed to open her up to repair the artery. Perhaps this made for a larger cut. They have a tube connected to her bile duct to drain outside of her body.
Debbie is so weak. The doctor said it will take her several months to recover from all this. She said your body reproduces about a pint of blood every month. They will remove the tube connected to her bile duct in three to six weeks.
The doctor thought of giving her a blood transfusion after surgery however her body began to show signs of recovering from the blood she had lost during surgery so he decided against it.
Deb was able to sleep last night, and she is still sleeping as I write for which we praise the LORD! I am going to stay with my wife and help her through all this. If Debbie continues to improve, and she does not need my help, and the Lord wills, I will be able to make it to our meetings on September 20-24, 2008, with Pastor Paul Stephens at Victory Baptist Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Again, please forgive the delay in getting this off to you.
God bless you.
His servants,
Norman and Debbie
