Dear Friends,
There are three things that I want to report on here in this letter. First, we had a great summer camp. There were nearly 3,000 youth and children attending the camps this summer. Of that number, over 1,200 accepted the Lord as savior. We had a wonderful group of counselors this year. The interesting thing was that about half of our counselors were saved in our camp in past years. The camp ministry has produced much lasting fruit these eleven years.
The second thing of interest is the future Bible Institute. This year at camp I asked the campers who were interested in the school to sign up for applications and information. There were more than three hundred that signed up; of that number about a hundred and fifty youth would qualify. I consider this response overwhelming. We can handle only 72 students with the facilities we are preparing now. Many of these potential students are from villages and their parents make incomes less than $50 per month. We are going to need sponsors to support some of these students for $50 per month. Every student will need to work at the school to keep the cost down. The $50 is for food and housing. Anyone sponsoring a student will get a photo and quarterly reports on their student. You could be supporting a future pastor, evangelist, or missionary. Please pray for this project. This school has the potential to change Moldova and perhaps have an impact on many of the countries of the former Soviet Union.
The third thing I wish to report on is the African project. We have built a small dormitory on the land that was in jeopardy. I want to thank you who helped with this building. I have a vision for a very important project there that I want to share with you. There is a great need to take the ministry to the people into the bush. There are millions of people in Malawi that have never heard the Gospel. We have to take this Good News to them. To do this we need a good four wheel drive truck and equipment. I have $20,000 toward this project but we still need $30,000. This would be an excellent project for a church that has a desire to see many saved and new churches planted.
I realize the needs are great, but the time is now to work or we loose the opportunity. If we truly believe Christ is coming soon, we must pull together and get the gospel to as many people as possible. I have the vision and the energy to do the work, but I need your help.
Pray for Moldova,
Dr. Eric Chapman
