Dear Friends,
We have received our living permits for another year. That is always a relief.
The ministry is progressing well. We have given the churches the places for this summer’s camp. We will have full camps again and it is exciting to see all the preparations coming together for this ministry. I am still amazed to see God work miracles in the lives of so many young people. Please continue to pray for the salvation of these youth and children. Please pray for the supply for this year’s camp. We know things have never been more expensive but we are trusting in the Lord for the funds. The cost this year is twenty dollars per child for one week of camp. Many of these children come from villages with no churches and many of the parents are farmers working the fields. They get paid if there is a good crop and usually get paid in produce. We really need your help if they are to come to camp and hear the Word of God.
On Saturday we had a meeting in the capital for all the churches coming to camp this summer. The meeting went well but after I left the church, a car pulled out in front of me and I had to slow down. At that moment a trolley bus hit me in the rear causing a lot of damage to my car. Thankfully no one was injured but the damage to my car is much more than the Moldovan insurance will pay. I wasn’t happy because every year right before camp one of the vehicles that we desperately need is damaged or breaks down. And as always I have no money to fix it because dollar is being spent on the camp. I decided in the first moments of this incident that I could be a Christian through all of this. I and one of my men began to witness to the 23 year old driver of the bus. We see him again on Tuesday and we want to witness to him again and see him saved. Pray this young man comes to Christ. Also pray I can get my car fixed before camp. It will cost about $2,000 to repair all the damage.
Pray for my family during the next few weeks. Angela is getting married on May 31st in Philadelphia. She is wedding Daniel Kochobay whom she met years ago in our camp. They are childhood sweethearts and have faithfully waited on the Lord for His timing to get married. Melissa is getting married on June 14th. She is wedding Paul Svirida. We have known Paul for many years because he used to come to our house in Chisinau as one of the many young people who were friends with my daughters. They moved up their date to better fit my schedule. Melissa is having a small wedding in Pensacola at Stephanie’s parents’ lovely home in the Pace area. I will actually be performing Melissa and Paul’s ceremony. I hope I can get through it. You may have noticed that both of my new son-in-laws are from Moldova. In the customs of Moldova we will be related to half of the population. Several of the men of my staff have already reminded me that we are soon to be relatives. Moldovans keep better track of their distant cousins than we Americans do.
Pray for Moldova,
Dr. Eric Chapman
